The Center for Research Excellence in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
The Center for Research Excellence in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at NMSU was established in 2004 through support from the National Science Foundation. The Center researchers, together with NMSU graduate students, are carrying out research projects in topics pertaining to protein structure prediction, developing computational framework to facilitate evolutionary biologists, promoter and cis-element prediction and bioinformatics databases. They are collaborating with researchers at various other institutions including Los Alamos National Laboratories, Iowa State University, UT Houston Medical Center, Texas Tech University.
Center researchers also are designing and teaching bioinformatics courses and training graduate students for bioinformatics research. The Center has been active in its outreach activities specially through organization of summer camps for high school and college students.
